Lightning Talk: A Multi-layered Security Architecture for Your Postgres Databases
Data security has never been more important than it is today. Considering the amount of data collection most modern apps require, it’s not just imperative to keep private and proprietary safe and secure — with measures like the European Union’s GDPR, it’s also the law. For organizations running any sort of data operation, keeping databases secure from existing and emerging threats is crucial. EDB's approach to data security uses a multi-layered security architecture. Join this session to learn about how this approach is designed and implemented.

Lightning Talk: Where Should You Deliver Database Services From?
Organizations have a choice when it comes to database platform. On the one hand, the dev platforms that cloud vendors provide are fast and loaded with tools, you don’t manage the infrastructure and only pay for what you use. On the other hand, deploying on premises can mean better control over performance, security, user experience and compliance. This session discusses making those choices – not for one app, but at enterprise scale. What should you consider? Which factors say “cloud”?  Which factors say “on premises”? And can you get a consumption-based experience either way?

Lightning Talk: Good Data Gone Bad, Bad Data Gone Worse
How bad data gets into the pipeline, how developers make data bad and worse in the pipeline. This talk will look at data sources, data types, and ways Postgres can be used to abuse data. Renee Phillips brings her experience before joining the tech world, and after to discuss problems seen in many data sources. Renee's background in Medical Anthropology and work in various industries taught her the effects of bad data on decision making. Her recent experience doing QA for a startup gave her new insight into data quality issues at the source. She will talk about some of the things that a user can do or not do in PostgreSQL that might or will definitely lead to data corruption.

This talk is suitable for users of all experience levels. A version of this talk was presented at PGDay Nordic in 2019
